Winamp2 s’invite dans votre navigateur
Il y a des projets à l’utilité douteuse qui forcent l’admiration. Ce portage de Winamp2 en JavaScript et HTML5 rentre sans problème dans cette catégorie. Il gère jusqu’aux skins de l’époque et vient titiller votre fibre nostalgique sans forcer. Enfin, si vous êtes assez vieux pour vous rappeler qu’on n’a pas attendu Spotify pour écouter de la musique “qui vient d’Internet”.
Jordan Eldredge est chanteur classique (!) et surtout… programmeur chez Facebook, sur le projet Nuclide. Sur son temps libre, le monsieur sort des trucs vraiment intéressants, comme Markdown Today, une application Web orientée mobile pour tenir un journal privé, directement dans Dropbox.
Mais c’est sa dernière création qui nous intéresse : Winamp2-js, qui porte Winamp 2.9 dans votre navigateur, entièrement refait en JavaScript et HTML5. Le résultat est bluffant. Gestion des skins en glissé-déposé, lecture de vos MP3 sans sourciller avec playlists, equalizer graphique, tout y est. Incroyablement, ça marche même parfaitement sous Safari, ce qui tendrait à prouver que c’est plutôt bien codé…

Même la phrase mythique est là, il suffit d’appuyer sur play sans MP3 en attente. Voilà une nouveauté qui risque de faire plaisir à Christophe “Ron” Thibault, qui a bossé sur ce soft qui aura décidément marqué du monde !
